The role
Work collaboratively with the PMG investment teams and management of PMG’s directly-held portfolio companies to maximise returns and preserve value
Coordinate and support the on-boarding of new investments (funds, co-investments, joint ventures and directly-held investments) as well as relevant sales and disposals

Key responsibilities
Asset Management
In collaboration with investment teams, ensure that appropriate asset management plans are defined and implemented (directs) and sufficient support is provided to asset management activities 
Through the annual asset management planning process, assist investment teams in developing and then challenging business strategy, operational focus and risk management through the definition of appropriate targets
Liaise with relevant internal and external teams to ensure appropriate support / guidance is provided on both a pre-execution and ongoing basis
Help maintain key internal and external relationships for the AMO function

Governance, Monitoring & Reporting
Help design, set and monitor KPIs in relation to PMG’s portfolio, lead the production of materials that relate to the monitoring of asset management and performance activity and proactively suggest improvements and ensure processes remain fit for purpose
Provide constructive challenge at the Asset Management Committees and Portfolio Review Committee 
Proactively monitor and assess performance versus those targets 
Manage and monitor the relationship with outsourced providers to ensure they deliver a robust service that is fit for purpose and achieves value for money for USS

Broader PMG Activities
Coordinate PMG’s input to USS / USSIM valuation exercises 
Influence PMG activity through formal committees and working groups as well as regular discussions
Represent broader team in PMG-sponsored projects as well as pan-USSIM initiatives as appropriate

Your experience
Demonstrable track record of asset management of privately-held companies within a Private Equity or Infrastructure setting 
Likely to have worked in a similar role in a: GP, Pension Fund and/or Asset / Fund Manager
Experience within a Financial Services’ consultancy / transaction services’ organisation would also be considered
Familiarity with industry-standard valuation practices and knowledge of key financial terms
Highly numerate (Accountancy qualification is considered advantageous but not a necessity)
Great attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication
Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player
Self-starter with ‘can do’ attitude, highly organised and ability to prioritise
